Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Tauscher was general manager of Trump International Hotel and Tower, where he coordinated the launch of the hotel and condominiums, achieving an impressive Mobil five-star designation for the hotel four consecutive years, beginning with the very first year the hotel was eligible for rating in 1998. It was back in his native country of Germany where Tauscher opened the Park Hotel, a family-owned property near Stuttgart in 1991. Tauscher came to the U.S. initially in 1984 to work for Rosewood Hotels at the prestigious Mansion on Turtle Creek Hotel in Dallas, and was instrumental in opening the Hotel Crescent Court, also in Dallas. He later became food & beverage director at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans. Tauscher’s career began upon completion of management training at Brenner’s Park Hotel in Baden-Baden, Germany, and Le Bristol in Paris, France.

Tauscher is currently a member of the Global Hoteliers Club and serves on the Board of Managers of the YMCA, spearheading a project to renovate the organization’s 500-room property in Manhattan. In the past, he has served on Preferred Hotels’ Quality Assurance Committee.
